History

The first Speedmaster was designed for racing teams and engineers, hence the name "Speedmaster. In 1965, the Speedmaster was chosen by NASA to be worn during various space missions and eventually during the moon landing. From then on, the title 'Moonwatch' became inseparable from the Speedmaster. The Speedmaster reference 145,012 was produced from 1967 to 1968, with a single exception to early 1969.

Features

Steel watch case (42mm). Black bezel with tachymetric scale. Stepped tritium dial with an imposed Omega logo. Plexiglas. Hand-winding chronograph movement cal. 321. Functions: column wheel chronograph with 30-minute & 12-hour registers, small second, central chronograph hand. Fitted with so-called 'Flatlink' 1039 Omega steel strap with a folding clasp.
