This Explorer II 16570 includes a 40mm steel case, a steel Oyster strap with a safety folding clasp and a stainless steel 24h bezel. The watch runs on an automatic movement caliber 3185 and has a date function. The case is protected by a scratch-free sapphire crystal. The watch has a black dial with luminova markers and a red 24-hour hand. This watch comes with the original warranty certificate from Rolex (from 2000).
In 1953, Rolex introduced the first toolwatch, the Explorer, which was equipped with a stronger, more rugged case for use in exploration. The Explorer accompanied an expedition to the summit of Mount Everest on May 29 of the same year, quickly increasing the appeal and prominence of this Rolex model.
