This Rolex Explorer ref. 14270 (2001) is one of the simplest models in the Rolex sports watch catalog. Although the watch has no bezel like other sports watches, it offers incredible durability and an easy-to-read dial. Most famous is an early prototype of the Explorer, simply called the Oyster Perpetual, which is claimed to have accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary as he climbed the summit of Mount Everest. Since then, the watch has become synonymous with mountaineering and extreme sportsmanship. This Rolex Explorer 14270 combines a rugged stainless steel finish with a contrasting black dial with lume. The Oyster case measures 36mm and is paired with an equally rugged Oyster strap with three-piece links and an Oysterlock clasp. On to your next adventure!
