When the 116613LB succeeded the classic 16613 in 2009, Rolex released a modern version of the Serti dial. It features eight brilliant-cut diamond hour markers combined with the standard Lume triangle at 12 o'clock and bars at 6 and 9 o'clock. Because ref. 116613 features the Maxi dial – with larger hands and hour markers – the diamonds on the dial are also larger than on previous Submariner models. This watch also has a so-called 'Flat Blue' dial. This is a lacquer blue color that matches the blue ceramic bezel exactly. Around 2013, Rolex switched back to the shiny 'Sunburst' blue dial, but the diamond option was discontinued around that time. This makes this watch quite rare, as this version was only produced for a very short time. This model is also known for its 'two-tone' design (a combination of stainless steel and 18-carat yellow gold). Although the diameter is 40mm, the 116613 looks larger than its predecessor due to the wider lugs and thicker crown guards. Powered by the legendary caliber 3135.
