This Rolex Submariner Ref. 16610 is the ultimate luxury diving watch. When the watch was introduced in the late 1980s, it featured many of the modern design elements we’ve come to recognize over the years, including a safer unidirectional rotating bezel, luminous white gold hour markers, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a screw-down Triplock crown with water resistance up to 300 meters. As one of the first modern Subs, the Ref. 16610 was hugely successful and remained in production until the 2010s, when the Ref. 116610 with the ceramic bezel was introduced. The example you see here dates from 2003. It features a SuperLuminova dial, a date display at 3 o’clock, and the famous mechanical Caliber 3135 movement with automatic winding and a Quickset date.
